Nelson Rojas de Carvalho is associated professor at Universidade Federal Rural do Janeiro and senior researcher at Observatório das Metrópoles/ Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. His research interests lie in Legislative Studies, elections, electoral geography and local power. His research is published in leading magazines such as Journal of Latin American Geography, Sociologie et Societés, Novos Estudos Cebrap, Lua Nova and Cadernos Metrópole. His book “E no iníciam eram as bases: Geografia Política do voto e Comportamento Legislativo no Brasil” was awarded the prize of best scientific publication and is a reference in the field of legislative studies in Brazil. His current research focus on local government, democracy, ideology and policy outputs.
