About

Megan Carpenter is a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame studying political science and philosophy. She is particularly interested in how a country's political regimes form national identity and international relations, reflection of immigration policies on democratic health, and how religious views of a country influence its policies. Megan has written research papers on democracy and authoritarianism, differing political ideologies and democratic backsliding. As a member of Notre Dame’s Fall 2024 Student Policy Network, she explores policy through advocating for undocumented people in Indiana to be given a driving card so they can legally drive a vehicle. She is also involved in Notre Dame’s College Democrats, Student Union Board, and Faith + Justice. Megan is excited to improve her research skills through the Kellogg Developing Researcher’s Program to make substantial impacts on underrepresented communities both nationally and internationally.
