About
León Heitler is a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame and a PhD fellow at the Kellogg Institute. Leon received a bachelor's degree with honors in Political Science and International Relations from CIDE in Mexico City. Leon was a Michigan University Eldersveld Emerging Scholar in 2023. His research has been presented at LASA and the Mexican Association of Political Science and has been published in Xipe-Totek (ITESO) and Nexos. Before coming to Notre Dame, Leon worked at Lab-Co, a Mexican Salvadorean nonprofit organization that specializes in public security.
Current Research
My research is on the dynamics of contentious politics, particularly conflict and violence.
