Lakshimi Swaminathan is a Ph.D. student in Economics at the University of Notre Dame. She previously earned an M.A. in International & Development Economics from Yale University and a B.A. (Honours) in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi.

Her research lies at the intersection of migration, health, and development. She is particularly interested in how institutions, demographic forces, and social norms shape human capital formation and labor market outcomes across borders. 

Prior to graduate study, Lakshimi worked as a predoctoral research associate at the Yale School of Management for two years, contributing to large-scale historical datasets on financial crises and authoring policy briefs published in the Journal of Financial Crises.
