About

James Baird is a junior at the University of Notre Dame majoring in History and Political Science with a minor in Constitutional Studies. James is particularly interested in studying democratic backsliding, populist movements, international law, and American relations with China and Russia. He enjoys researching American political history in his spare time. He attended a study abroad program in Ireland in the summer of 2022 and is looking forward to an upcoming program in London in the summer of 2024. He is currently a Co-Lead on the Student Policy Network's Global Magnitsky Project, working toward sanctioning those involved in human rights abuses or corruption. He has previously worked as a researcher on the Global Magnitsky Project, a researcher on the Central American Research Alliance (researching methods to combat Guatemalan human trafficking), and a Co-Lead on the Entertainment Policy Project (compiling research on grants for those in the entertainment industry).
