Human Capital: The Driving Force of the Modern Economy
Pablo Peña
Associate Instructional Professor in Economics
University of Chicago
Human capital theory is a powerful tool for understanding contrasts within and between nations, as well as some of the most salient patterns in history. However, human capital theory and modern economics are often presented through complex mathematical models filled with jargon. In this talk, Pablo Peña will discuss his book Human Capital for Humans, in which he breaks down these complex ideas and provides an accessible, intuitive introduction to human capital theory. He covers topics such as parenting, marriage, fertility, education, on-the-job training, health, preference formation, specialization, economic growth, and technological change.
Books will be available for free while supplies last.
