Austin Marchand is a member of the Class of 2028, majoring in English and Pre-Health and minoring in Business Economics at the University of Notre Dame. Academically, he pursues his passion for English exploring modernist American literary scholarship and criticism while simultaneously developing skills in STEM and healthcare. Outside of the classroom, he engages in clinical work as a personal care assistant and respite hospital volunteer as he continues to explore roles in medicine.
With rich service and clinical background working with intellectually and physically disabled populations, Austin currently serves as a research assistant in the Attention, Memory, and Perception Psychology Lab, studying how nuerodivergence affects agency and perception.
Moving forward, Austin is eager to develop his leadership and research skills further as he continues to engage in opportunities to explore the intersection of humanities and healthcare to improve the quality of care, knowledge, and social perception of disabled populations marginalized by society.
