About

Anran Zhang is a first year PhD student in comparative politics and political theory and a Kellogg Institute PhD Fellow at the University of Notre Dame.

She earned a B.A. (double major: Political Science, Philosophy) from Colby College and an M.A. with a concentration in Political Science from the University of Chicago. She has previously studied at the University of Oxford, the University of Edinburgh, and Sichuan University as a visiting student.

Before coming to Notre Dame, she worked for several environmental and animal protection NGOs.

Current Research

Anran's research examines the public’s perception of state legitimacy and state formation. She is especially interested in the intersections of political science, psychology, and communication. She is also dedicated to a more nuanced understanding of Socrates.
