Alexa Luna ’29 is from Brownsville, Texas and is pursuing a degree in Political Science with minors in Latino Studies, Computing & Digital Technologies, and Data Science. Luna’s research interests focus on the intersections of law, public policy, data analysis, and social equity, with particular attention to immigration, access to justice, and community-centered research. Luna has served as a lab assistant at the University of Notre Dame Museum of Biodiversity as part of the Herbarium team, where she contributed to the digitization and cataloging of plant specimens. She is currently engaged in research through the Lucy Institute’s ExLENT Data Crossings program under the supervision of faculty advisor Dmitry Zaytsev, applying data science methodologies to non-STEM research questions. Luna has been selected to participate in NDbridge summer research and is a 2025 recipient of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, a QuestBridge Match Scholar, and an Amazon Future Engineer Scholar. In addition, Luna serves as a Matriculate Advisor for the 2026–2027 academic cycle and interns during academic breaks at the Law Office of Eddie Lucio, where she gains practical experience in legal research and advocacy.
