Research on Global Democracy

Research conducted by members of the Kellogg intellectual community on our core theme of global democracy is at the center of what the Institute does. Kellogg approaches democracy not only as a system of governance, but as an evolving and contested process shaped by institutions, culture, history, and global interdependence. Across its work, the Institute integrates empirical research with normative inquiry, examining how democratic societies pursue justice, inclusion, and human flourishing. The Kellogg Institute is committed to the pursuit of scholarly excellence and to value-driven research in the areas of global democracy and democratization.

Research Across The Globe

The Kellogg Institute at the University of Notre Dame is one of the most visible and prestigious university centers for the study of international issues in the United States. For more than four decades, our faculty and visiting fellows have helped set the scholarly agenda on our core theme of global democracy. Our work has had a significant impact on policy and practice.
