About

Assistant Professor of Economics Heitor Pellegrina is a trade and development economist, with a particular focus on agriculture and environment resources. He is affiliated with the Building Inclusive Growth (BIG) Lab and became a Kellogg faculty fellow in 2023.

Pellegrina spent six years in New York University Abu Dhabi as an assistant professor, where he also coordinated DevLab seminars in 2021-23 and co-organized the conference "The End of Globalization" in 2022. 

He has conducted research on Brazil, India, Colombia, and parts of Africa.

His work has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Development Economics, and the Journal of International Economics.

Pellegrina holds a PhD in economics from Brown University and both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
