About

Ben Martin is a junior at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Political Science with a supplemental major in French with minors in Art History and the Glynn Family Honors Program. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, learning languages, and listening to music.

Inspired through his coursework and professors, he hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in comparative politics. His research interests include competitive authoritarianism, Russian involvement in Francophone Africa, human rights protections, and the state of global democracy.

Martin has contributed to research on the efficacy of local election training for BIPOC women across the United States since his freshman year. This past summer, he spent four weeks in Zambia as part of the inaugural Kellogg Pre-Experiencing the World Fellowship cohort in which he assisted African Impact’s “Girl Impact Initiative,” offering instruction on self-awareness, mental health, leadership, body image, and gender parity to Grade 9 students. As a member of the Kellogg Developing Researchers Program, he hopes to refine his French proficiency and strengthen his research skills.
