The origins and legacies of universal citizenship: The Antonine Constitution after 1800 years - conference in Rome

A 3 day conference is planned to explore the significance of the Antonine Constitution for its own time and beyond. It will take place in Rome in September of 2012. Sessions will be hosted by the American Academy, the British School, and the University of Notre Dame. One and a half days will be devoted to discussing the ancient context and consequences of the Constitution, one day will examine its historical legacies, and the final half day, to be hosted by the University of Notre Dame, will consider its implications for contemporary Europe.
