Kellogg International Scholar Ethan Chiang ’27 spent eight weeks in Ghana as a Kellogg Global Democracy Fellow this summer.
Working in Accra with Merton & Everett LLP, a law and policy consulting firm, Chiang gained firsthand exposure to Ghana’s legal system, assisted with cases and research, and even put his French language skills to use translating materials connected to neighboring Francophone countries. His experience also deepened his thinking about the complex relationships among human rights, national sovereignty, colonial legacies, and foreign influence – questions closely connected to the subject of global democracy and to his Global Affairs research capstone.
Chiang is majoring in business analytics and global affairs with a supplementary major in European studies.
