About

Catherine Maloney received a B.S. in behavioral neuroscience from St. Edward’s University in 2016 and an M.S. in global mental health from the University of Glasgow in 2018. She has volunteered in Jamaica on multiple occasions, including five months in 2017 when she organized therapeutic activities at a boys’ home and assisted in a rural health clinic. She later returned to Jamaica to complete research for her master’s dissertation, which evaluated Jamaican adolescents’ receptiveness to digital mental health services and treatment seeking preferences.

Catherine’s research interests broadly focus on the development and implementation of mental health interventions for marginalized youth in cross-cultural settings. More specifically, she is interested in the influence of violence exposure on early childhood development. By further understanding pathways of risk and resilience, she hopes to assist in developing culturally-tailored initiatives that support a strong start for young children while promoting peace in family and community contexts.
