Ann Marie Thornburg holds an M.F.A. in Poetry from the University of Michigan Helen Zell Writers' Program where she was also a Zell Postgraduate Fellow in Poetry. Ann Marie was also a Human-Animal Studies Fellow at Wesleyan University, and most recently, the recipient of a 2017 Critical Language Scholarship to study bahasa Indonesia in Malang, Indonesia.

Thematic Interests

I am an anthropologist-in-training conducting long-term multispecies ethnographic research in Bali, Indonesia. I am interested in the public health management and practice, the biopolitical governance of populations, the creation and maintenance of bounded spaces in plural societies, and the development of multispecies ethnographic methods.
