Quechua Summer Language Fellowships

The Latin American Studies Program through the Kellogg Institute for International Studies will offer several summer fellowships for summer 2009 to Notre Dame undergraduate and graduate students who would like to pursue the study of Quechua, the language of the Incas and of millions of indigenous peoples living in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Students will attend classes at the Centro Tinku in Cusco, Peru. Classes are available at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Students will participate in a 7 week study of the language and culture.For more information about the program, see http://www.centrotinku.com/.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be able to attend the 7 week program from June 29 - August 17.
- Demonstrate interest in Latin American Studies through coursework, work, or living experience, internships, etc.
- Be proficient in Spanish.
Fellowship Details
Recipients of the award will receive a small stipend as well as funding to cover airfare, program fees, room and board, and health insurance.

Quechua language and culture classes at Notre Dame
Each year, Quechua native-speakers from the Andes offer beginning and intermediate Quechua language classes on campus in addition to an intermediate-level Spanish class on Quechua culture. For more information, contact the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.
