Javier OsorioJavier Osorio

Kellogg PhD Fellow

I am a PhD student in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame and I got my BA at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas in Mexico. My area of specialization is in Comparative Politics in Latin America.

My research agenda is focused on understanding the causes and consequences of large scale criminal violence. My dissertation disentangles the micro-dynamics behind the onset, escalation and diffusion of drug related violence in Mexico.

To conduct my dissertation research, I received funding from the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council ─ Open Society Foundations, the United States Institute of Peace and the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, and The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation.
