Mobility, Society, and Governance in North America

Opportunity to Study and Research in Mexico or Canada for Notre Dame Undergraduate and Graduate Students

ND Students now have the opportunity to participate in a one-semester study abroad program in Mexico or Canada.  Students from any discipline may participate.  Through the program, students will choose from one of four universities and will pursue studies in topics such as Border and Environmental Management, Democratic Process and Institutional Reform, Cultural Identities, and North America after NAFTA (paying particular attention to economic and social well-being).  Click here for more information about the curriculum.

Students who participate in the program will gain a comparative and transnational vision of the processes that characterize the NAFTA region and find innovative solutions to the challenges facing the US, Canada, and Mexico.  Participating in the program will allow students to

  1. Understand how NAFTA as well as various political, cultural, and economic events have affected relations and policy between the three program countries
  2. Get guidance from leading professors to conduct research in one or more of the four sub-topics of the project
  3. Learn through interactions with peers and the three institutions focusing on the same issues
  4. Improve Spanish or French language skills
