The Romero Lecture Series is made possible through a generous grant
provided by the late Eli Shaheen, and it is cosponsored by Notre
Dame’s Latin American/North American Church Concerns (LANACC),
Helen Kellogg Institute for International Studies, and Joan B.
Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies.
Latin American/North American Church Affairs (LANACC) was
founded in 1985 by the Rev. Robert S. Pelton, CSC, to foster
pastoral bonds between the churches of South, Central, and North
America. LANACC carries out a mission of information, interpreting
the Catholicism of Latin Americans to their fellow communicants
in North America; promoting fraternity and unity between faith
communities throughout our hemisphere, and encouraging greater
involvement of United States churches in the ongoing quest for
the peace, socioeconomic justice, and universal human dignity
mandated by Jesus Christ.
The Kellogg Institute supports research into a wide array of vital
issues including, among many others, democratization and the quality
of democracy, growth and development, religion and the Catholic
Church, social movements and organized society, and public policies
for social justice.
The Kroc Institute nurtures international peacemaking initiatives,
supports ground-breaking peace research, and offers innovative undergraduate
and graduate programs in peace studies. Its extensive research agenda
includes conflict resolution, human rights, economic and cultural
globalization, religion and conflict, and ethnic discord.
