About the ProjectIn 2000, government officials and scholars in Brazil and the US brought to fruition a partnership that forged together common cultural goals in their countries. Led now by Gilberto Gil, the Brazilian Ministry of Culture has supported the Visiting Chair in the Study of Brazilian Culture at the Institute since 2000. Building on an extensive base of Latin American expertise at the Kellogg Institute, the partnership between Notre Dame and the Brazilian Ministry of Culture gives not only Notre Dame, but the American Midwest, the opportunity to experience the best of Brazilian culture. "We are grateful for the support that the Brazilian Ministry of Culture is providing the Kellogg Institute. It will enable us to deepen our connections with Latin America's largest country." --Scott Mainwaring |
