Beatriz Jaguaribe

Beatriz Jaguaribe received her PhD from Stanford University in Comparative Literature. She is currently a professor of comparative communications at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Jaguaribe is one of the most innovative and lively scholars of contemporary Brazilian culture. In her teaching and research, she links artistic productions, lived experiences and academic discourses. Her cultural maps of urban Brazil are designed to foment critical debate about estrangement, belonging and diversity.

Beatriz Jaguaribe's latest publication is titled The Guide-Map of the Marvelous in Rio de Janeiro. Other publications include Fins de Século: Cidade e Cultura no Rio de Janeiro (1998) and, with Nizia Villaça, Rio de Janeiro: Cartografias simbólicas (1994).
