For the last two years I have helped Professor Richman with a variety of projects. We started by analyzing and comparing the treatment of Haitian migrants in the United States during the 70s and 80s and the treatment received by Mexican migrants during the 2000s. I also worked on an analysis of the migration of Haitians to Brazil and their consequent movement to the United States through South and Central America as well as Mexico. We are currently working on an analysis of Haitians’ use of the Dominican Republic as a starting point for a subsequent migration to other countries and another project analyzing Haitians’ views on crisis prevention and management.
