Student Grants and Awards

Graduates

Kellogg offers the following awards and fellowships to graduate students: Dissertation Year Fellowships, Seed Money Grants, and the Supplemental Award for African, Asian, and Latin American Doctoral Students. The Institute also works closely with the University’s academic departments to support postgraduate research related to the Institute’s research priorities. Undergraduates

Internship Program

The Internship Program provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with policy institutes, non-governmental organizations, and various businesses that will better equip them to function in a more globalized world.   Students may work with organizations within Latin America, Africa and the United States.

Kellogg/Kroc Undergraduate Research Grants Program

Research Grants Program support juniors at Notre Dame whose interests include a clear international dimension preferably related to the Kellogg Institute's themes. Up to five grants of up to $4,000 each will be awarded for summer study/research abroad or, if demonstrably appropriate, in the United States.

Latin American Studies Program - LASP

Experiencing The World Fellowships offers an exciting new opportunity for freshmen and sophomores to engage in initial exploratory projects in Latin America. Award recipients may receive up to $4000 to pursue field projects for up to three months in the region.

Quechua Summer Language Fellowships offer several summer fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students who would like to pursue the study of Quechua, millions of indigenous peoples living in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Awards

The John J. Kennedy Prize is awarded by the Latin American Studies Program (LASP) and the Kellogg Institute each year for the best senior essay on Latin America.

The Considine Award recognizes a student’s outstanding contributions to the study of, or service to, the Catholic Church in Latin America.

The George Monteiro Prize is awarded each year by Program in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and the Kellogg Institute for the best two essays, written in Portuguese on a subject related to the Lusophone world.
