Linking the Villages
As the Millennium Village Project (MVP) has proven in Ruhiira and other locations in sub-Saharan Africa, bundling simple solutions such as high-yield seeds, fertilizers, medicines, drinking wells, and materials to build schoolrooms and clinics is an effective way to combat extreme poverty. In Ruhiira, these solutions are nourishing the community into a new age of health and opportunity.
Nnindye project coordinators from Uganda Martyrs University and the Ford Program are committed to working closely with MVP leaders and practitioners in Ruhiira to incorporate best practices and lessons learned from their project, now in its second year. Collaboration with our partners in Ruhiira allows the Nnindye project to adopt many of the successful methods of the MVP while at the same time retaining the flexibility to make adjustments appropriate to Nnindye’s particular opportunities and challenges. The program seeks to emulate the promising, initial results of the MVP in Ruhiira while maintaining its unique identity as a partner project. |
