The Ford Program is expanding opportunities for Notre Dame students to explore issues related to human development studies in and beyond the classroom and is strengthening Notre Dame faculty expertise in this area.

The Ford Program is developing an interdisciplinary undergraduate minor in international human development studies with the goal of launching this minor in Fall 2010.

The Ford Program is working with departments in the College of Arts and Letters to hire new faculty members with special expertise in development studies. These new professors will create and teach new courses, deepening the offerings of the interdisciplinary minor. A search is underway for a senior faculty hire with international development expertise.

To promote the sharing of scholarly ideas and culture—especially in the area of human development studies—the Ford Program supports student and faculty exchange opportunities between the University of Notre Dame and partner universities in other countries.

The Ford Program supports events on campus to engage students and engender dialogue on human development at the University of Notre Dame. Events include an annual student conference, a Discussions on Development series, and a host of talks given by development scholars and practitioners

To expand the University’s course offerings in human development, the Ford Program offers course-development grants to Notre Dame faculty members each spring.

The Ford Program offers undergraduate internship grants in collaboration with the Kellogg Institute, the Center for Social Concerns, and the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.
