Bishop Lambert Bainomugisha, Auxiliary Bishop of Mbarara, Uganda, was educated in Uganda and ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Mbarara on July 13, 1991. A parish priest in the Mbarara Archdiocese from 1991 to 1994, he then studied Canon Law at the University of Saint Paul, Ottawa, Canada, earning a doctorate in 2000.

He served as the chancellor of the Archdiocese of Mbarara from 2000 to 2005 and was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Mbarara on July 2, 2005.

The bishop is a member of the University Governing Council of Uganda Martyrs University as well as the Uganda Episcopal Conference, where he serves as vice chairman of the Lay Apostolate Commission.
